“Rhetorical question”; why is it we can only aspire to be financially free? Will hitting the lottery for millions of dollars give you financial freedom? If you do not have a million dollar income, what do you think will eventually happen to your millions? Ok, big ideas do start out as dreams but if you do not implement anything that is all they are, dreams.

It seems to me that we under utilize our capacity to take on challenges outside of the norm. What I mean is, it can be a daunting task to go to a job 5 to 6 days out of the week, work 8+ hours a day, take care of home and family, then try to start a home based business that will give you the financial freedom you deserve.

The “rat race” is a term used to describe work schedules shared by a large number of individuals and it has been widely used by Robert Kiyosaki in his “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” books. (Great books, by-the-way).

For example, in a heavily populated areas the “rats” converge on the highways, byways, streets and public transportation trying to get to or coming from work.

Those in route to their jobs are often “on edge” which causes a great deal of stress. Stress is not something any of us want accumulating out of control.

The alternative is a successful home based business that allows you freedom to stay at home and avoid the work rush, freedom to enjoy some of the daily pleasures you miss while at work, freedom to indulge in things your previous financial situation would not allow.

Being self employed would allow you to call your own shots and relieve stress associated with the travel to work (and the work, at work).

Some that are “self employed” have associated work stress because of the field they chose, location, employees, etc. Restaurants, bars, clubs, convenience stores, etc all have stressful day to day demands. You can leave those stressful positions to those that chose them.

“An online home based business will not take you away from your home but you can take your business anywhere ” . This is financial freedom planning.

Not having to leave home to get paid or get paid while your anywhere, doing anything is freedom at its best.

If you have a stressful household or the company you keep that is another issue you will have to work out. My advise to you is how to achieve work related financial freedom.

Removing the elements of having to follow a dress code, be on time and punch a time clock can possibly lower your blood pressure and other stress related symptoms.

Studies show that driving related stress is most common in society today. The anticipation of your destination and road rage can raise blood pressure.

Financial freedom lowers stress related to finances; that coupled with the fact that you did not have to leave home will work out in your best interest.

“Having the freedom to work when you want can be damaging if you do not have the discipline to work when you need to”.

Plan , budget and know when you need help. Do not be fooled into thinking home based business entrepreneurs “did it on their own”. It may appear on the surface that some successful home based business owners had little help but this is far from the truth.

ServicesAreUs.com offers you free information to point you in the right direction for financial freedom.

Online home based businesses like search engine marketing, affiliate marketing, article marketing and Google Adsense are a booming industry that should be considered in your quest to financial freedom.

An Internet home based business is not an “end all” but can be a great start.

The purpose of this article is to show those caught in the “rat race” that there is a way to end the madness. When you have a solid home based business plan that you actively work to achieve it will make your day a little better knowing you have a way out.

As the tree buds blossom and the first flowers of Spring bloom, many individuals begin to look for ways to start anew in their lives and homes. Here are suggested solutions to simplify, clear out the clutter and create space.

Don’t De-clutter, Create Space

Even if you don’t consider yourself a pack rat, belongings can overflow homes and take up valuable space. If you don’t have much storage space, or if your attic, basement, and garage are filled to capacity, it may be a good time to create space and become organized.

Rather than using your “extra rooms” as permanent storage facilities, think about what you could do with that space if you had another solution. Have you ever wanted a room for a home gym, an arts-and-crafts work table, or children’s study desk? Well, you may not have to move to a bigger home to solve your problem. The answer may be as simple as finding a flexible, secure, and convenient storage solution offered by a portable storage and moving company.

Simplify Life, Don’t Throw Away Your Memories

Cleaning up and clearing out unnecessary junk is an important part of the Spring Clean. But, sometimes you don’t want to get rid of everything just because you don’t use it regularly. Heirlooms, collections, and other possessions with sentimental value shouldn’t be thrown away if you are not ready or willing. Keep your grandmother’s fine china, antique vanity table, and your collection of model cars. But, don’t clutter up your garage and attic. Live simply and reduce stress by considering other alternatives. Enlisting the assistance of a portable storage and moving company may be the solution to help you keep your memories protected, accessible and out of the house.

Here are some tips to begin the process of clearing out the clutter.

1.) Go room-by-room
2.) Set aside a couple of hours
4.) Make quick decisions – Trash, Sell/Give Away, or Store
5.) Have a trash bag ready
6.) Focus on surfaces first, and then open cabinets and drawers
7.) Call a portable storage company to deliver your storage container
8.) Place an ad to hold your garage sale
9.) Create a plan to prevent the build-up in the future

Making The Call

A de-cluttered home is a phone call away. Here is how it works:
1.) Call one of the leading portable storage and moving companies to have a storage container delivered to your home.
2.) Fill it at your convenience – take a day, a week, a month, or as long as you desire.
3.) When you are ready, the container is taken to a secure, climate-controlled warehouse.
4.) If you need to access your belongings, the container can be re-delivered to your home within 24 hours, or you can visit the warehouse yourself.
5.) You can have the container moved locally or anywhere in the country if you decide to relocate.

Following these simple suggestions will give your inner pack rat a clean start and help to simplify and de-stress your life.

Everyone of us dream about getting out of the rat race one day. I mean I don’t know of anyone who ever dreams of putting more hours at work or wanting to spend more hours commuting during rush hour. It’s not like we dream of putting in extra hours at work at the expense of family time. So why is it that this dream of escaping the rat race is such a tough hill to climb.

The main problem is that we dream but we keep doing the same thing we did yesterday hoping for a different result. Life in the rat race is a bit like running on the treadmill. The faster you run the more your tire and burn yourself out but when its all said and done you haven’t actually gone anywhere and tomorrow you basically start in the same place again. Sure your fitness improves and you burn of much needed calories but its not like you ran a marathon and finished a race. But lets say you do want to run a marathon one day, eventually you are going to need to get off the treadmill and just join a marathon. How can you ever hope of completing a marathon if you never get out on the road and run the race. Its all great to prepare, it would be ill advised to just wake up one day and run in a marathon, but all the best preparation and training does not compare to actually running the race.

The treadmill is a little like life. We all get so comfortable and used to running the treadmill that we never stop to decide what we are actually wanting to accomplish. What is the marathon of our life in a sense. Is it to one day travel, start and raise a family or maybe spend more time on the water. Whatever it maybe you have to decide what it is for you and you have to decide that you are going to have to get out of the treadmill and just go for it.

We can all get preoccupied with running on the treadmill of life sometimes but you have to remember that you can run as fast as you want, work up stress and sweat but you aren’t actually going anywhere. You have to step out of your comfort zone and do something different if you want the results in your life to change.

I came across this inspirational short movie clip of a guy who quit his job and with the money he saved went traveling around the world for six months until his money ran out. Now that is inspirational. He decided to start a blog and filmed himself dancing at the different countries he visited to keep his friends and family up to date on where and what he was doing.

So if you want to change your experiences and get yourself out of the rat race, the first thing you have to do is decide what race you are running and why you are doing what you are doing in the first place. Once you find meaning you will find purpose.

1. What it takes to start bee keeping

Bee keeping is not a very expensive venture and for anyone with a little space it is possible to start this business with just about $300 for one hive. This is enough to get started with and you can expand later if space permits. However, the very first thing that you should do is to find out whether you or any family member of yours is allergic to bee stings, if not you can go ahead and get your first bee hive. Another point that you should clarify from the local cooperative office, is whether you are permitted to keep bee hives in your area. If you can do so, then you will have get registered as a beekeeper with the beekeeping organization.

2. Select a suitable place to cultivate your bees

Once you have your beehive, you can keep it away from the home somewhere in the corner of your back yard in a spot which you feel will be suitable to have your beehive.
You will have to have the necessary equipment for maintaining your beehives successfully. You can find out about the equipment that you will need from the Federation of American Beekeepers or Cooperative Extension office of your locality. Most of the equipment is available online and through Ebay. You could search on the internet and get all the information and equipment that you need and order it to be mailed to you.

3. Play it safe with bee hives

You will have to ensure that you have the proper beekeepers tackle and do not get stung by bees. Make sure that all those who will be handling the bees have this gear available to them whenever required.

4. Place an order for your bees at an apiary

Order your bees only after you have all the equipment and the bee hive in place. The apiary where you order the bees from should be one that is well established. Winter is usually the bet time to order your bees, which means around January or February and you will get your shipment of bees by March or April. The U S postal service carries the bees for apiaries and will inform you once the bees arrive so that you can come and pick them up. Mail carriers do not like to carry a box full of bees that are agitated with the journey all over the countryside. You should pick up the bees as soon as possible as they are not going to remain healthy for too long in the confines of a vehicle.

5. Bees are packed in a “House”

Bees are normally shipped in wooden cases specially made for this purpose. The package will have a sign saying “house” on it. These wooden frames are covered with a screen which allows air circulation and also protects those who have to handle this package like the people from the postal service, from being stung.

There will usually be a few dead bees lying on the bottom of the container, but do not get perturbed. This usually happens as you cannot expect all the bees to take the journey well. You will find the remaining bees clutching on to the sides of their container.

6. The queen bee

The queen bee is kept separately along with a few nurse bees, and her container will be covered with a piece of sugar candy. The rest of the bees for your bee hive will be put in a container together and these will form the remaining hierarchy. In this container there will be a bowl of sugar syrup which is for the bees to feed on while traveling. The bees will need a drink once you get them home, for this you should spray the container with a fine spray of water. Now your bees are home and you can get started on your bee hive.

There’s approximately 20,000 species of bees throughout the world making them the interest of beekeepers who rely on them to cross pollinate because when bees do that it changes not only the flowers they collect pollen from creating new species of flowers, but it also changes the consistency of the honey the produce. Beekeepers also track bees when they cross breed with other species of bees and that’s how they track their habits from mating to origin of where they come from. Beekeepers will also track their honey production since different species of bees will also produce different consistencies of honey.

Most bees were originated from places in Europe, Africa and some parts of Asia, but with the fact that many bees were brought over by immigrants to the United States over the centuries. Bees are found on all continents except Antarctica. The evolutions of bees are derived from wasps since they’re cousins with the exception that wasps aren’t pollinating insects and their ability to be organized rivals wasps, beetles, flies, and butterflies. Bees are also categorized in two social classes that are ideal for beekeepers to adapt their system of managing bees and hives.

Most bees born are usually female you have few males, and females will fight each other for control of the hive and colony. Now most people when they hear about the African bee they think killer bees when in fact the Africanized honeybee is in fact not dangerous as people make them out to be. It is this species of bee that is the most popular with beekeepers and the beekeeping industry alike. The African honeybee are the most readily used when they produce clover honey which is the most used and produced honey. One reason that the African bee is so popular is because they’re not an aggressive species that will readily attack someone, but they will attack when they’re defending the hive and the Queen-who will go into permanent residence inside the hive after she becomes pregnant and isn’t seen ever again. Usually most beekeepers remove portions of the hive, but leave the one that contains the queen where it’s.

Bees are generally docile, but they do get annoying when they fly around you during picnics because of the fact that their sense of smell will direct them since they don’t have very good eyesight. Their sense of smell is what helps them find flowers they pollinate and sometimes with the food people eat in this world the smell can mimic flowers which can result in them getting their scents mixed up. This is why you’ll likely find bees swarming around trash because debris on food wrappers can attract them because sweet scents resemble flowers and plants. Beekeepers should be careful about dispensing their trash because bees can smell sweet scents for long distances and what can be harmless such as disposing trash can turn into a huge pest problem when they start gathering in places that isn’t their normal habitat.

In a typical room, 5 percent of the fleas will be found on pets, 10 percent flea cocoons in the carpets, 35 percent flea larvae and 50 percent flea eggs again in the carpets. Female Fleas lay eggs that turn in to grub-like larvae. The larvae then develop in to pupae and settle inside a cocoon. They wait for a host to start their life and suck blood. When something warm moves pass by the pupae, they unzip the cocoon and jump on the animal or human body. All this happens in three seconds and the flea can jump as high as four feet.

It is important to get rid of fleas by simple methods as these insects cause serious diseases. Plague, Murine Typhus and Tungiasis are the diseases caused by fleas. Fleas that are lodged on rats, which carry the bacteria, Yersinia Pestis – the bacteria that causes Bubonic plague. Plague is a killer disease and can spread widely. It’s completely curable. Murine Typhus is an infection caused by Rickettsia, R. Typhi. Rat fleas called Xenopsilla Cheopis transmit this. Tungiasis is caused by the Chigger flea, Tungia penetrans, whereby serious damage can be done to the feet as the female species burrow into the feet and breeds there. Their feeding under the skin causes severe infection and irritation. The fleas are removed by surgery. Fleas also transmit Tularemia and tapeworms to humans as well as pets. Other than these diseases, fleas also can cause allergies to both humans and pets.

However, there is no need to worry, as there are many solutions to get rid of fleas. You can take up the responsibility of removing fleas yourself or if the problem is severe and you are not comfortable with dealing with chemicals that may be toxic, then pest control professionals are there to help you in wiping out fleas from your house and surroundings.

Remember that adult fleas, pupae, larvae and eggs – fleas at all stages should be killed to rid your house of them completely. Resistive pupae and larvae grow on to become adult fleas in a few weeks even though the adult fleas are killed. Fleas should be removed from all stages in their life cycle, to protect your family and pets.

There is a Flea website that has more info on flea facts, and everything about fleas, fleas in carpets – rugs, fleas in vehicles, fleas in furniture, fleas on pets, fleas in lawns and yards, natural flea remedies and much more flea information. The website is called: Stop The Fleas, and can be found at this url:

Since I live in the city I am assaulted with advertisements from the radio, TV and static billboards. I have to skip through commercials before I can watch the DVD I just bought. I almost throw important mail away in my attempts to sift through mountains of junk mail. I endure up-selling every time I buy a cup of coffee or fill up my car with gas. I don’t answer my phone if it’s a number I don’t recognize because I know it’s going to be a telemarketer. Tonight I tried to watch a professional basketball game. Every time out, every statistical report and every inch of the stadium was plastered with ads. What do pool supplies and casinos have to do with basketball? Just ask one of the star players, there he is hosting the ad!

Our sales-driven culture is wearying, especially to economically average people. Sales is not an end in itself, yet many people in the workforce today must adopt Sales as their daily religion. Sales can be a good thing, granted. It springs forth from a potentially healthy, capitalistic model. But the result of our take-take-take mentality is an ever-increasing class of people who do nothing but sales. They are called “Salesmen.” Average folks who would love to do something honest for a living are forced to sell their bosses’ products the other masses who buy the aforementioned products using the revenue they accumulated from commissions earned from selling their respective bosses’ products, and so on.

This is the destructive futility of doing anything apart from God. This also hints at the oppressive tendency of any human system that tries to function apart from God. Godless men are driven by their insecurities to position themselves above others as they try to offset their giving with as much taking as possible.

Work apart from God must be meaningless and therefore also discouraging. If God is not making our work meaningful, then what is our meaning? To earn money? Earn money to spend on what? Feed our families? To what end? So that our families might live? Live for what?

God is continually offsetting our destructive tendencies with His grace. There must be a single, great Giver to offset the fact that men are always taking. Men would tear themselves and the world apart through their hoarding and clinging if not for God, who chooses to patiently hold the world together.

Worldly men would think a man crazy for giving and dying unconditionally so that others might benefit from his giving and dying. God’s otherworldly grace inspires such craziness. This insanity is the only productive way to live. This good kind of insanity offsets the Godless world’s insanity, which is self-destructive.

God makes it possible for men to die to themselves by making them spiritually full. To the heaven-bound man, Jesus Christ is all the nutrition and wealth that he could ever want. Christ is our eternal Wealth. This Wealth is unfading, impossible to steal. The spiritual wealth that comes from knowing Jesus Christ is grounded in God, who is eternally set apart from the world.

Christ makes His followers useful to world by freeing them from worldly concern. He fills them and strengthens them so they might give and die unconditionally, to benefit others.

It is not the race that makes a rat race, but the rats in the race that make it a rat race. God frees us from this rat race by making us something better than rats.

A career of sales, for example, will drain a person’s life. But a salesman who depends on God will accomplish his work with unconditional joy. When God frees a man to work with unconditional dedication and joy, he will do any job well, even a sales job. This demonstrates the ironic beauty of God’s grace. He injects that which was only dark and detrimental with life-renewing hope and strength.

There is hope for our capitalistic economy as long as it contains Godly checks and balances. As long as our money earning is girded by spiritual wisdom and selfless charity there’s a chance for us to find meaning in our everyday lives.

“Well, I’m going into the office again, going to work for my chunk of cheese, along with all the other rats,” my husband would say as he prepared for another full day behind a desk. My heart would hurt every time I sensed his dread of spending another entire day that way. You have probably felt it too…Sunday night, after a fun, relaxing weekend enjoying the freedom to explore and pursue what you love, that sinking feeling that starts to creep in as Monday morning quickly approaches? And what about the suffocating feeling of returning from vacation? Being newly married, we were enjoying being under one roof, experiencing life together. We loved to travel and see the beauty of new places, had lots of dreams on our hearts. But the reality of an 8-5 job put a stop to the pursuit of many of those dreams. “Is it possible to escape the Rat Race?” we asked ourselves. After all, we were doing what we’d been conditioned to do: go to college and get an education, then find a 9-5 job with good benefits and work to age 65 and retirement, whichever comes first. Not a very satisfying concept. Well, we refused to remain in the race and determined to find a way out, to find an innovative way to obtain that cheese while living life the way we dreamed. It’s scary to go from “I hate my job” to finding a way out. For we are all conditioned to feel more at home holding to what is probable, versus what is possible. But if you really take a good look at what is possible, the benefits of living life that way starts making the “probable” fade, and the “possible” (such as “escape the rat race”) becomes a goal to obtain.
This is a list describing what motivated us to escape the rat race, a few of the benefits of the “possible.” The headings apply to everyone, the descriptions I made specific to us, for I do not know what is important to you. Think of how you would fill it in.

*Freedom to do what you love. For us this is reading, hiking, traveling, spending time with friends over coffee or a chai latte (my personal favorite), craft projects, photography, sports of all kinds, skiing, boating, etc, etc, etc.

*The freedom and ability to pursue your dreams. Our dreams included traveling around the United States more extensively and overseas; mission/charity work, supporting our missionary friends and building a retreat for hurting children; investing; owning a cabin in Montana where we could journal, hike, and read to our heart’s content. Also, the dream of owning a big old house in the country to use as a beacon for many a weary soul, with a wrap-around-front porch of course.

*Financial independence and stability. With the changeable tides of the economy, we felt we wanted to build our wealth independently without relying on a job that we falsely viewed as our security for a time. And the independence part extends a little further to the fact that we wanted to be able to work from wherever we wanted. That way, we could take those trips and still be working on our business.

*More Time. Life passes quickly, and we didn’t want to get to retirement age and think, “I really wished we would have…” We wanted to have the time to spend with our family and friends…quality time with depth. Time is a precious commodity, one that cannot be manufactured when you run out. We have the present. Period. And we refused to give up the present because we were always looking at the future. We wanted to be able to sleep until we felt rested and then have breakfast and quiet time together in the morning. We wanted to spend our time on things we were meant to do, things that made us come alive.

A large percentage of the people in the workforce spend most of their adult lives working on someone else’s dreams, passions, and goals. Their time off is largely spent trying to recover from the stress generated by the job they dislike, and the lack of sleep from the long work hours. Too many people are not on the path that is leading them toward fulfilling their personal goals and dreams. Much of the reason for this is that they simply will not dare to step out of the probable and embrace the possible. The wonderful thing about America is that it’s foundation was built by people who determined to reach for what they could see was possible and were willing to work hard until they achieved it. And that same opportunity is available to each of us today. If you are sick and tired of the rat race, but have difficulty believing escape is possible, ask yourself, what if it isn’t?

Amy Fitzwater

Research continues on the agricultural and environmental mystery known as Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). However, finding a cause and a subsequent cure for the problem is fast becoming a race against time for scientists.

The number of disappearing honey bees in recent years is indeed staggering. Many beekeepers estimate that, at the current rate of bee loss, there now may be only a ten year window to find a cure. Colony Collapse Disorder is unique since it leaves bee hives with a queen bee, a few newly-hatched adults, and plenty of food, while all of the worker bees responsible for pollination just disappear.

The fact is that, in the last two years, close to two million colonies of honeybees across the US have been wiped out by CCD. Internationally, the problem has taken the lives of billions of honeybees in Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, and the UK. In Taiwan, ten million honey bees are reported to have just vanished.

A lack of commercial honey bee pollination would be devastating to agriculture. Ninety crops worldwide depend on honey bee pollination as does the cotton plant. Therefore, Colony Collapse Disorder threatens both our health and our attire. So, unless a future diet of cereal and grain, and clothing without cotton appeals to you, hope that current CCD research soon solves the problem of the disappearing honey bee.

There has been considerable speculation on the cause of the sudden disappearance of the honey bee. Global warming, cell phones, terrorist attacks, and power lines have all been identified as potential causes. All of these possibilities have been discounted while other possible reasons have recently come into scientific focus. The major problems that the honey bees face can be broken down into four categories; mites, pesticides, virus, and stress. It may even be a combination of some or all these bee problems that account for the mystery of CCD.

The varroa mite has been a problem for the honey bee since the late 1980s. For over twenty years this external bee parasite is responsible for dramatic declines in the honeybee population in North America and throughout the world. The mite problem for the honey bee was particularly acute during the winter of 1995-1996. Since then, bee losses have continued despite heavy use of pesticides to control the mite populations. However, parasitic mites cannot explain Colony Collapse Disorder as there is no evidence that mite infestation is directly involved, although they may contribute indirectly by reducing the immunity of the bees.

New pesticides are another possible explanation for Colony Collapse Disorder. A new class of insecticides, called neonicotinoids, have been found to be highly toxic to various insects, including bees. In fact, research has found that the level of the insecticide found in pollen has had a delirious effect on honeybees.

A team of scientists led by the National Institute of Beekeeping in Bologna, Italy, found that polluted pollen may be one of the main causes of honeybee colony collapse. Bees fed with 500 or 1 000 ppb (parts per billion) of insecticide in sucrose solutions failed to return to the hive and disappeared altogether, while bees that had imbibed 100 ppb solutions were delayed by twenty four hours in their return.

Signs of colony collapse disorder were first reported in the United States in 2004, the same year American beekeepers started importing bees from Australia. It has subsequently been discovered by Hebrew University researchers that these Australian bees were carrying a virus. The virus identified in the otherwise healthy Australian bees has been named Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus (IAPV) after the researchers responsible for the discovery.

Although worker bees in Colony Collapse Disorder vanish, bees infected with the IAPV virus die close to the hive. Scientists used genetic analyses of bees collected over the past three years and found that IAPV was present in bees that had come from Colony Collapse Disorder bee hives 96 percent of the time. Scientific research continues concerning the disappearing honey bee and IAPV.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, “The number of managed honey bee colonies has dropped from 5 million in the 1940s to only 2.5 million today. At the same time, the need for bee hives to supply pollination services has continued to climb. This means honey bee colonies are trucked farther and more often than ever before”.

Consider that the beekeeper of today, who is involved in crop pollination, must transport their bee colonies from one state to another several times each season. Therefore, tens of billions of bees are transported across the United States, in the backs of trucks, to pollinate crops every year. Researchers have suggested that this process is putting a high, abnormal level of stress on bees. This frequent change of hive location is known to stress and weaken bee colonies and it increases the threat of parasites and diseases among bees used in commercial pollination elsewhere in the country.

It should be noted that nobody in the organic beekeeping world is reporting Colony Collapse Disorder as a problem. Most people think beekeeping is all natural, but in commercial operations the bees are used for pollinating profit without much government oversight. So, it may be safe to assume that the current process of commercial beekeeping for industrial agriculture may well be creating the conditions of stress necessary for CCD to occur.

Mites, pesticides, virus, and stress are the four areas of primary focus among researchers trying to solve the mystery of the disappearing honey bee. It is fast becoming a scientific race against time to find a solution to a problem that threatens United States agriculture and the national and international food supply.

Albert Einstein once predicted that if bees were to disappear, man would follow only a few years later. Indeed, researchers need to find a solution to this worldwide bee problem very soon to insure that his theory is not put to a test.

James William Smith has worked in Senior management positions for some of the largest Financial Services firms in the United States for the last twenty five years. He has also provided business consulting support for insurance organizations and start up businesses.
